Right. Okay. So that's the best horror soundtrack sleeve art I've seen in a long while. My excitement for this release is now at full power. Thanks Bub!

As a quick aside.... and I shouldn't really say too much... but I have a bit of insider knowledge on an upcoming release by one of the boutique US labels that is just as exciting for me as this one. I'll just hint, it's an unreleased score (from tapes - sounds incredible!) with the composers involvement, to a big cult flick from the early 80s. One of my big wants for sure.

For one thing, I just really appreciate it when a new artist's take on a film property uses the original title treatment, particularly if it's killer/iconic/highly tied into the film's dna. This looks bloody amazing splashed across the mask illustration, love it.

Also a big fan of the alternate film title, with it's very similar graphic treatment:

I would definitely be interested in some of the releases from this box set, but also apprehensive that it would get ballsed up as you mention Def. Would also be concerned about QC of pressing etc... With 18 discs. I'm guessing this is all from the cinema Kan CD releases.
Speaking of which Someone needs to put their CD of Hiroshi Baba's werewolf guy ost on vinyl!!
quote from a post I made last year:

During the Lights, Kaiju, Action... DESTROY panel Spencer announced Mondo is going to release Toho soundtracks. (watch from 21:51)
He mentions they will focus on titles from 1985 and onwards and not only Godzilla titles. At one point he also appears to say that titles from 1975 and onwards are going to be released. Not sure if I understood that correctly.
He is trying to release 3 of Toho related soundtracks this year, but because of the uncertainty in the world that might change.

Interesting. If it's really '85- or Heisei/Millenium era films then I am not as interested. I was expecting Waxwork to follow this up with a similar box set with something like "Godzilla - The Heisei era Soundtracks (1984–1995)" or even a combined box with Millennium era (1999–2004) and Reiwa era (2016–present). I wonder if there is going to be a split between Mondo and WW for these licenses? What would be really cool to see would be the more obscure Toho titles like @dollar mentioned.

WW did a QA and mentioned more “monster movies” when asked if they are putting out Godzilla vs Kong and when asked about anymore S.King releases he put the wolf emoji.

Chattaway score for Silver Bullet would be awesome. Dead Zone from Kamen would be awesome.

I'd be super thrilled for Dark Half by Young as well - likely since they've worked with Romero and his estate a bunch already

I'm trying to think if there are other SK releases i'd like to see them do.

I think there may be bad blood between Waxwork and the Romero estate after the NOTLD fiasco (though the fiasco may have just been with Image Ten, specifically).

Secret Window / Philip Glass score isn't talked about much, it's pretty great (and I actually really enjoy the movie)

For some odd reason (and I know another two guys who are the same) I rewatch SW quite often! It's not like it's a great movie or anything, but it has...... something. And it is, of course, a classic SK tale of a writer cracking up ;-)

This convo reminds me - I bought the SK AT THE MOVIES coffee table book in the summer, mainly so that i have an up-to-date, definitive chronology of every King film. My intention being to go through and watch any that I've missed/avoided. That does mean, however, watching The Mangler and Graveyard Shift at some point, two films definitely in the latter category!

Oh i will fight you on Graveyard Shift, that movie is a down and dirty mess of a flick but its a lot of fun and Dourif turns in QUITE the performance. it definitely feels like a long tales from the dark side episode more than it does a real movie, but its a fun piece of garbage nonetheless.

Mangler not so much

For shits n giggles here is my SK film/tv rankings that I tweeted in April 19, in the run up to the new Pet Semetary. It would most certainly need thinking and reconsidering since then, but much of it I stand by!

Interstingly, seeing I put both Mangler and GS in the 'shitpile' I realise I must have watched them waaaay back in the day and forgotten about it. Def putting on the rewatch list.

Would love to know your own ranking @hatterino!

I def need to update now - I really liked The Outsider a lot, it would place very nicely I'm sure. Bring on that big ten my man!

Yep, Shawshank is a dreadful piece of shit, which I think maybe makes me a.... hipster?? ;) (my jeans are awfully tight...)

Found it!
and then some. I've tweaked a few bits here and there and 25-35 may undergo some shifting. Also that top 20 is super fluid, with some of the bottom tier subject to change and the top 10 subject to massive shifting on an almost hourly basis (even as i type this i think 1 and 2 are already flipping in my head)

And lastly, this is totally subjective to my own personal tastes. I don't even remotely think that Salem's lot is a better film than some of these, but as to what it means to me and how it makes me feel in relation to the source material etc...

Anyway, heres how it ..ahem...stands currently

Dreamcatcher. Just.... holy shitweasels.

The idea that Maximum Overdrive could be worse than the recent Pet Sematary seems insane to me.

Granted, I haven’t seen Maximum Overdrive in decades but maybe my hatred for that new Pet Sematary is still just too fresh.
