All I'm trying to do is login in advance of the drop. Have had to reset my password twice yesterday and again this morning because it stopped working, then got a "wait 18 minutes, too many failed attempts" message, came back a half hour later and am now getting 504 Gateway errors whenever I click Login.

Well, if they're going to offer a very limited release, give a lot of lead time for news about that release to percolate through various feeds and sites, and give a specific time as to when that release will be dropped, how can they expect anything other than what is happening now? If you wait for an email or a twitter update, there is a chance that it'll be gone, so people are going to refresh whatever they can to try to get it. It's like dangling a bloody carcass above a pit of alligators and then getting pissed that they are all snapping at the meat.

I can't imagine that this approach is profitable to Waxworks, either. It has to spend time and money to make a site work that only experiences large spikes a few hours out of the year.

And if you want to log in, go to waxworkrecords.com/login.

If you go to the URL that I listed above (waxworkrecords.com/login), it redirects you to your profile login page. After you log in, you can go to waxworkrecords.com and be all set. This way, you don't have to fake out the cart. Given the delicate nature of the site right now, you probably want to do as few clicks as possible.

Of course, you'll need to get beyond the time-out screen for any of this to work ...

"If you wait for an email or a twitter update, there is a chance that it’ll be gone"

Not so with Chopping Mall. Had that been a massively popular release (and I'm not sure why it wasn't, that soundtrack is totally bad ass), people refreshing the Waxwork.com site would have missed out while those paying attention to the social media sites saw the direct product page link before it was added to Waxwork's main store page.

Brilliant analogy!!

True, it worked for Chopping Mall. But given a more limited release, I imagine people are doing everything -- refreshing twitter, refreshing the site, etc -- to make sure all their bases are covered. Why take the chance if Waxwork doesn't do it the same way before? And now, we have F5 hell and a bad user experience.

They should have prepared an email draw for the limited version.

This is getting really old. They should have anticipated for this... again. ::sigh:: Since I was on the site before the timeouts started, I should have a go first. :P I take it you all were too. We should have numbers. LOL.

I don't know why the darn site keeps resetting my password... I definitely remember it, but the password doesn't work.

Seems to be a bit better. Maybe they did something. ::thumbs up::

Says you! I just reset my password again and had the site reject the newly-reset password as invalid. It will lock me out with one more "bad" attempt.

...aaaand locked out for 20 minutes with another newly reset password. Maybe I just have really horrible short-term memory and dyslexia!

Honestly with how the site is working I doubt it's going up so at least you have that going for you.

One of the most iconic horror movies of all time +limited edition release= RIP waxwork.com

A great idea to prevent this F5 situations is to launch a temporary mini site... a brand new link sent by mail or simply put through the socials.... it's not so difficult! We're just wasting time, yesterday I had a discussion with my wife for being glued to my laptop until late at night...I'm just waiting for a "sold-out" message so I will be satisfied enough to get the "normal" version, which at last, like every time, will sound better than any other variant, isn't it? My wife is right ...we're all nuts! :D
