@phil the people who complain about flippers on Record Store Day are always the people who can't be bothered to queue up on the street the night before. Like you say, it's a commodity.

@phil and @Peek-a-boo, with all due respect - that's BS. Sorry. You've completely missed the point of most of the complaints about flippers on here. As tempted as I am to restate it, I'm sure you're smart enough to figure it out.

As for if you genuinely view music as a commodity...in the same way you might view a caravan or a block of cheese.....well, I'm also sure you would be in the minority on this forum! Peace out dudes :)

@disco you romantic fool!

People treasure cheese. Just look at the price of Swedish Moose Cheese!

haha....gotta love that moose cheese :)

a friend of mine was in sweden once and fancied some of that delicious delicacy - he queued up in the cheese
store to buy some, though it was pricey, around $50 for a kilo! after queuing patiently for a heckova long time (and really starting to look forward to that hunk of curd!), the guy in front of him (who didn't even like cheese!) managed to buy the very last piece!! he then immediately approached my friend, waving the precious, stinky block under his nose, and said "you can have this one for $500!"

the owner of the store took the guy out into the back alley and taught him a lesson. then the guy was arrested for being an opportunistic douche. and forced to eat cheese until he realised how wonderful it actually was, and how his actions had upset and angered cheese lovers worldwide.

eventually, he was released from jail and started making his own version of the famous moose cheese, though in a very loving, tongue-in-cheek way as he had none of the resources or real skill to match the original.

they made a statue of the guy years later. he became a kind of hero in sweden. he's where the expression to "swede" something comes from.

If I didn't care about vinyl as being a commodity I'd just buy everything in the highest quality digital format.

It's a commodity that I don't personally want to sell, but if I got on hard times I know that I've made some very shrewd purchases over the years & I could easily round up a grand or two by selling off a few pieces...

Hey guys,

I was flying home from Atlanta on the day this came out so i just picked up a murky green (you win some you loose some, just glad I can support the label), if there are any splatters available for trade or sale after the people above are sorted I would love to get hold of one.

Also, have any pictures been released yet of any variants? I am looking forward to seeing them all.

Thanks

@Hardrain

Don't think anyone has seen any pictures of the WW variants pre or post sale yet.. which makes the mania all the more remarkable.

Personally I'm looking forward to the DW, Mondo and OWS releases and announcements - some this week I believe - just as much, but am secretly hoping they won't prove as hard to obtain! :)

Yeah i recall reading that in the paper, the guy didnt like cheese, but knew its value and as he was poor and down on his luck he thought he would trek the 3 hour journey to the cheese shop, queued for 3 days just to get the tangy variant that he knew would fetch more and he could eventually feed his family.

As he was walking away from the counter pretty pleased with himself he could not believe this moron who offered him $500 dollars for the cheese. Amazed that someone would pay ridicoulous prices for such things the guy was elated at his potential sale. Before it all went wrong for him obviously, and then his family all died of starvation as he wasnt able to provide for them.

Of course this story is all lies, everyone knows Swedish Moose Cheese costs around $1000 dollars per kilo, so in actual fact your mate was trying to rip him off!

Vinyl is a comodity, look at the posts on here...... i need money so im selling some items that i have double of!

all that said, i do really really love the vinyls

"i need money so im selling some items that i have double of!"

As I said before - I'm sure you're a smart guy, but if you can't see the difference between that and jumping straight on a cool record purely because you know you can extortionately fleece a fan straight away (and that is your sole intention for buying).....I give up! C'mon @phil, are you wilfully ignoring the actual point of all this?? ;)
By philball1974
#30007
now don't get me wrong, of course its difference, but my point stands that the record itself is a commodity, and as such whether you love the music and need that very one (al la the STBC community) or if you are a soulless money maker you both have the justified right to own it.

One chooses to listen and love and the other choses to make easy money. Ive no beef with either.

and just for the "record" i don't love flippers, i remove the seal from all my vinyls.... BOOM BOOM!!

Did any of you guys that managed to snag a blood filled. did you ever end up getting a waxwork receipt?
By EvanCampbell
#30213
The Cult Leader - I did get lucky and order a blood filled. I only have paypal confirmation but I received an email response from WW (Thank you Suzy :) ) saying that everything was cool with the order.

I was not logged in when I ordered so it will take a bit longer maybe for the WW order confirmation. I normally would not think twice about it but due to how fragile the website was, I thought maybe there was an error, and they over sold because of such a massive assault. So it seems good to go

Waxwork Records, any response on the kickstarter idea for future limited edition runs? Thank you to all who responded positively to the idea.

:) lol

It is all quiet now and we wait. Hope they post a photo soon..like to get a look at one of them.

Now that the order is in, I have to worry about my mailman...he does his deliveries with such violence. I had so many close calls...death and vanilla vampyr was almost folded in half.

I also got a nice email from Suzy at waxworks confirming all was well with my splatter order. So anyone freaking out like I was about only having the paypal receipt, no worries, everything seems to be under control over there. now i just can't wait to listen to it!
