@monsterw. Ok, tnx! ;) Following that surface noise list seems that GITD+split is the worst combination... (8+7?) :D

Anyway long live the porn wax! Can't wait to get my copy! Amazing work Seb! ;)

I just received my Hills Have Eyes glow split. Yeah it's super noisy but it sure is pretty. My copy also has black flakes (mostly on the amber side). I love the jacket and liner notes. Great job OWS!

Looks like Ill need to pick up a black copy for listening.

I'm kinda being drawn in to buy THHE but I've never heard the soundtrack & it's been years since I saw the film. Can anyone compare it to something else that's out?

On the B side, maybe it's just me but I heard a lot of similarities to Tourist Trap.

Not a criticism, as I understand the reason of choosing GITD for aesthetic reasons, but if you knew of the sound quality issues, why did you eventually decide to press this one GITD?

Going by the list above, I would be concerned about the black + glitter Forbidden World sub edition, but the Star Trek RSD glitter 7" sounded alright.

Ryan, good question.

With the choice of colors/variant it's never a random thing. For Last House we chose white vinyl for Mari's innocence and red vinyl for the aftermath of what happened to her.

Phantom Of The Opera will have a lot of black, white and clear mixes respecting the original 1925 feel. Cannibal Ferox will contain camouflage jungle colors and a lot of blood red.

… as you can see: for me it's all based on the feeling of the movie or colors associated with it. We don't just throw something together. With The Hills there was a lot of orange used in the movie's original poster artworks and there are a lot of night scenes that light up under the moon. Therefore we used the amber/GITD combination. We knew there was going to be audio loss with the GITD … but it just had to be done.

Like Kevin from WW used green and GITD for Re-animator, I don't think it was a random choice. It just fits.

Spencer from DW goes even further in this 'feeling' I know he feels all the details and colors of what the release should look like and has artists in his head when he plans a release… the results are beautiful.

I guess we're just a bunch of art-fags ;-)

Thanks for the response, it was great hearing about the artistic decisions direct from the source. Eagerly awaiting my copy to arrive soon (I hope!).

Also, between the three of us I believe we're always trying to push the limits in variant vinyl… and driving our pressing plants crazy with requests on packaging and color combinations.

This is not just for the sake of being cool or outdoing each other, it's just to make the release come out as close as it's in our heads I presume.

If you look at the haze of the DW FOG … combined with Chapman's work on that HEAVY jacket. That's pioneering work there! The double 200 gr vinyl color on Rosemary's baby from WW. Our GITD split was a first too I've been told by the plant.

We have some cool stuff coming up : bonus discs on cd's that play on a turntable, postcard vinyl, metal plated covers… There's a lot in my head and I try to make it a reality ;-)

We'll always keep a black or more audio friendly format available too though. In the end it's about the music, but aesthetics are are important for us too.

Ive got to give praise to these passionate responses from OWS as well, and you can tell that instead of being jealous or bitchy towards each other, OWS, WW, and DW all admire each others talents and efforts in what is being done

Its magnificent to read about the colour choices - in a way it should be obvious as with Re-Animator the film is green through and through - I wonder what peoples responses would be if they were asked to associate any film with the first colour that sprongs into their mind based on that film... never would have guessed that with the LHOTL and THHE releases

Lets face it we are all (or most of us) in the game for colour variants here, and any intial frustration and even bitchin that comes from not being in the 1st 200 or something to get a rare variant dies down eventually and we look forward to the next release and game of getting a certain one. I guess if we never had coloured vinyl and it was all about a black release we'd all be happy getting one, but the game has started and will probably never let up now. So its never just about the music (though primarily it is). Its also about collecting something beautiful and to be treasured!

Additionally I for one get a touch of excitement at all the surprises and ideas yet to come.. I like surprises (in a big way the DW sub tote bags I wish had been kept a surprise), but its nice to be teased with these upcoming things as well...

Got my order from LITA yesterday. Got the amber/clear and the body bag cassette. The GITD looks cool but with the sound quality issues, I'm glad I got the amber/clear. Package looks great, can't wait to listen to it soon.

Thanks so much for this Seb! Just got it 5 minutes ago in the mail. Have been waiting anxiously for this since it was announced. I can only imagine what you will be doing with Cannibal Ferox and Phantom!!

And I'm pumped I got the clear/amber too.

Patience my friend, it's on it's way ;-)

All posts you see are from US folk. Our records are made in the US and then shipped to us in Europe where we re-distribute them... so LITA customers tend to have em sooner.

This will change when we start selling from stock instead of preorders in the future.

Wish they built that Star Trek beaming device though... Beats all that inter-continental shipping!
