I can't take credit for it, it's one of my favorite lines in Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

In case you are not watching the other thread, TCM vinyl up for sale on DW site right now.

To be fair on this, *I* purchased the $10.98 copy right as it listed, as it was at a super low price. The listing was incorrect, as it a posterless un-numbered repress (through no fault of the seller). The color variants were gone in SECONDS. Much more limited than any DW/OWS/whatever. So $100 for wax, poster & PUPPET(!?!coolerthanadildo) seems fair to me, in the new economy.

---------------------------------------

Very surprising, if it's true...300 copies are due to go to DW subscribers, if they wish to obtain this disc. Any leftovers, would then be available to purchase. The rest are for the US events. That is my understanding.

Or do you mean the DW site @ Mondocon, itself? Perhaps this is what you refer to?

They're on the DW Store right now for anyone to purchase, not many available though, but Spencer hasn't announced it on social media, just here, so grab it now!

"The Goods" picture album - 2001, Hook & Pull Gang, Wolfcop, MOND-000, Iron Giant, Looper, & Shaun of the Dead.

Looper is just a gorgeous album, and Iron Giant weighs a ton with that metal case. Pretty nice looking stuff all around. Unfortunately an audio review will have to wait as my equipment is on the fritz. Think I may need to re-wire the tonearm or get a new one.

I am not supporting flippers, but I do love to play devil's advocate. Think of it this way...

I live in nearby Dallas, but I spent 7 hours in the car, $50-60 on gas, $35 for a convention ticket, $50 for a TCM screening ticket, and maybe 3-4 hours standing in various lines over the course of the day. Let's say I wanted to see the screening but didn't have a record player or any interest in the vinyl. And I am handed this LP on the way out. What do I do with it? How much should I sell it for?

Let's give me below minimum wage for the drive and account for costs. If I didn't buy stuff at the con, the screening vinyl would have cost me $49 in wages and $140 in gas+tickets.

I am not taking the side of flippers, and they piss me off too. But these posters, records etc are commodities. I think it's a sad way (not to mention a generally inefficient way) to make extra cash, sure. But if someone out there is willing to spend $300 on a plastic music disc, and someone else has that disc and is willing to sell it for $300, we aren't going to be able to stop that from happening. Because 'Murica or something.

That's not real, is it?!?

Yeah they were $49.xx each, plus you had to have a MondoCon admission for Sunday. I couldn't make the Con on Saturday but think the Total Recall & Ghost in the Shell screenings were $60, but those also came with some rad posters (especially GITS which looked AMAZING)

I got a Mondo Test pressing matrix catalog number, mondo #006.

This one is not listed on discogs. I asked justin and he couldn't remember what it was. So far I only listened to the A side and nothing came to mind.

It was super noisey, perhaps it was a rejected release, I need to give it a better cleaning though.

Also heard of someone getting a bat shaped vinyl, hmmm.

It was funny to see at the Sean of the dead throwing game, shattering colored omen records as well as black looper records, they had a ton so I'm assuming something went wrong with those two pressings in some form.

Rip it so we can have a listen. Someone will know what it is.

And I think your comment shows exactly how much Justin cares about the music.

@VinylLOST Great pics'n'vids cheers - lucky if you made it but broke I guess. Easier to pass on a pricey Looper online but seeing it in the 'flesh' I woulda been tempted

it was a very nice looking vinyl designed by Jay Shaw, but im not a fan at all of the movie or the score, and was way overpriced, so i passed myself. the cloth jacket around the gatefold (like the bags over the peoples heads in the movie) is what covers the gatefold, and included a 7", but way over priced, and do not pay the asking price even at $99 for the Shaun of the Dead Strawberry Swirl vinyl, it cost $27 +tax to win ever how many Zombie heads you could knock off with rejected vinyl you threw at them. fucking flippers.you couldnt buy the variant you wanted, you had to win it.

I don't typically get too worked up over variants and such, but this Space Odyssey record is beautiful. My first time putting it up to the light.

That is gorgeous, hows the music itself? I like Alex North a lot, so i may try and snag this down the line a bit.

It is a good listen on its own. When you hear the Alex North score you will immediately understand why Kubrick binned it in favor of the temp tracks. The tone of North's work is much too light and cheery for a film with a murderous computer OS and a general vibe of impending doom. North's sonic rendition of space is too playful.

I really wanted one of those variants! Looks gorgeous. I bought two copies at the con and they gave me two black ones. I will probably buy two more whenever they go up on the website and then try to get whatever I can back on the black ones.
