I'm not commenting on him tho. I've never met him, actually never even seen him at any of their events that I've attended. I'm talking about the employees he has running the face of it. I've had constant bad luck with them since I've started buying from them. To me, it begins to be bad service...not bad luck.

And I'm not trying to be rude here - but it's hard to believe in the view of one label by another. You guys have a huge advantage over us. You get to trade with each other, and that makes you no longer a regular customer like any of us that have to wait in line, hit refresh ten thousand times, and just hope to get one of the cooler editions.

I'm not slamming Spencer at all, I would totally do the same thing if I ran a label...I'd ask for their ultra limited in exchange for one of mine, because you all are big fans in the end. That does cloud your judgement on how they handle their business though, because you'd never want to lose your connection with them. I get that totally. But this forum is FULL of people bitching about how mondo handles their products and customers. It is not full of people saying the same about DW, OWS, or WWR. After a while you have to admit where there's enough smoke....

It does seem that flippers always seem to get the Mondo stuff before actual customers do, on pretty much every release. And the whole flipping thing is much more of an issue with Mondo than any other label doing soundtracks. I mean really, $200 for the variant? It just sold this morning, so someone actually paid that for it. Now that's not really their fault, BUT, they could stand to press more copies of the variant (as they did with Halloween) since they know the demand is there and that actual fans are having to pay more for their products. They could make some changes and also take money out of the hands of flippers and make more for themselves at the same time.

I think that once you come to expect that with mondo releases its a game of roulette you may not always win (or in this case get the best variantbecause if u are getting a copy you are technically winning), then its not all so bad. With the other labels you always get some cool variant anyway so technically we are spoilt anyway - but doesnt the roulette add just a tad of spice to it at least? When you open it and get the rarer version what do you do? A. Cheer to yourself and b. Post it here to celebrate and boost to others your one of the winners as such. End of the day its still about the music though surely.

You say that you dont get this with the other labels but how many of us were getting stressed out when we thought we werent one of the first 200 to get the rosemarys baby variant? That was akin to mondo releases slightly. Once the weeks went by though we were just happy to wait to get hold of this great release

@liftman2013 - what i'm saying has nothing really to do with the variants, just knowing information about the releases that are forthcoming. seeing a tweet that says "tomorrow we are selling THIS!" and that is the first time you hear about it makes it hard to budget for those kinds of things. i know that is not the concern of the label. i think they just like being able to say "we are releasing this tomorrow" and people saying "WOW! that's so cool!". i am one of those people most of the time, so i totally get it. i just wish we had more of a heads up.

I think it's reasonably fair to suspect that it's actually Mondo's employees/friends that are the guys flipping the posters/LPs. Also, it's not unheard of for flippers themselves to arrange for the first copy to be bought at an obscene price, to artificially set the market price as high as possible, then sit back and watch the other copies turn a juicy profit.

Personally, I think it's unacceptable for any small business to treat it's customers so poorly. You wouldn't get away with it in any other industry, so I'm not really sure why vinyl should be an exception. It's strange. Sure, their products are cool, but I'm not particularly keen on supporting them. There are so many other labels out there that deserve to be supported more!

My thoughts exactly. I couldn't agree more.

@Layneharvey na i totally understand that angle my friend. I think its kinda all part of their roulette strategy. 'Its coming out in next 24 hours, we know its going to sell out either way so whoever gets it gets it'. To us guys and gals though we want a little part of everything

Its a shame they arent more responsive with customer queries as others though. But their release strategy has def poss and negatives for surprises though. Flipping whatever the way is totally evil which these forums aim to minimise

@layne - I think it's ridiculous they advertise over twitter.

Being in the UK I miss most of their release times because I can't sit on twitter all day waiting for them to go live.

i have said in the recent past that if i get the variant with Mondo releases, i get it and that's cool, but i would be just as fine with black. well, i recant that statement with 'here comes the devil'. jesus christ, that is a beauty. i really would like that variant. but the black vinyl up against the redness of the cover looks pretty awesome, too, so i guess i should just be happy either way. that is all. be ready for the Mondo drops today, fellow freaks!

Yeah, I may have to buy two of each and take my chances that way. I always tell myself I won't do it but then when they post pictures, like Layne said, it's hard to resist.

Only picked up Here Comes The Devil.

Kinda dig the soundtrack so hoping for a variant.

Can't believe it costs the same to ship as it does for the record.

Now we get to wait a few weeks before they start shipping these, at least they usually don't ship for 3 or 4 weeks after you order them.

Blue Sunshine is an awesome release... Picked up the iris blue variant at the film screening. You guys won't regret it, any version! However I just ordered the print. Why is shipping on a print $15?! Kinda lame...
