I bought this on vinyl in 1984 when it came out from Beat Records:

Fun stuff. Wonder if DeMasi's THUNDER is also due for a vinyl re-issue in the near future? Beat released this in 1983, kind of an Italian muscleman take on FIRST BLOOD, as I recall.

@blue15 - Ah, thank you! My search ability totally failed me there. I have a copy of Thunder, but had forgotten about this one. Great stuff!

Decided to post this here to not derail the Waxwork thread.

That's making me nervous! I saw my last Mondo order, which was the first using the new shipping rates, was using a courier service rather than the regular post. This means almost certainly being nabbed for charges every time.

Previously Mondo marked all packages sent through the post to a low value and I'd never been caught, likewise Waxwork
I am afraid that we are going to see more custom charges. Mondo put a value of $10 per record on my package. I had 3 records. Normally in the Netherlands customs doesn't apply a charge when the value is below €50. But I am not sure if they do charge packages below that value on a random basis.
In the last 12 months not one of the 30 packages from the US were charged with a custom duty.
But this one shipment doesn't mean all Mondo orders to Europe will be charged. We will see how it turns out :-)

Here in Germany it is like a lottery. Recieved two MONDO orders on monday without any custom fees and today two packages that cost me 42€ on top.

Ouch!
I only had to pay €18,50. For 2 single LPs and 1 double.
So not too bad.

I just had to pay a £11 customs charge, first time it's happened since i've started ordering from Mondo and it's the first since the new shipping rates. Not a huge hit but worth noting.

The DHL option has some problems. I had to deal with what seemed a really dodgy company, Customs Clearance Limited. Turned out they did release my order on payment regarding customs duty. In the past, any customs issues have always had a sticker with costs incurred. This order did not and was completed through YODEL. Still not sure what to make of it. My last order I decided to go one with DHL, one full price postage. Today, one snapped in half 7"....Cheers DHL/YODEL. Be safe, pay more. Once the "customs charges" are added, you are no better off.

They use DHL now? For sure won't be ordering directly from Mondo then. DHL is THE WORST. They do that thing that UPS does where they pay all the taxes/customs/duty charges in advance for you (even when you wouldn't get dinged with any charges if it was shipped via the postal system) then they charge you a fee on top of that for the "convenience" of them handling the importing for you. Fuck DHL/UPS/FedEx/Purolator when shipping between countries.

You can still get Mondo to ship via regular post, but it's more expensive. But there's a far better chance of not getting caught for VAT/duty charges, whereas as you said, the couriers will do you every time. I'm interested to see how my "test" purchase works, but if I get done, it will be regular post all the way from now on.

I don't blame Mondo, in fairness, international shipping charges out of the US are nuts, especially considering the rise of e-commerce. Talk about milking your economies of scale....

ALIEN teased officially on the back of the Prometheus Obi for this year. I imagine they will do killian eng art again to match the style of this and aliens. Super super excited, especially if it's the expanded score remastered!

Hatter - Agreed. I hope they use the same artwork style for Alien rather than the Tyler Stout poster art. It would look great with the other two. Looking forward to giving Prometheus a spin in the near future.

I would stick with my OG Alien if Mondo uses Stout artwork......I just can't stand any of his artwork I've seen. As one of my favorite films and scores it would be hard not to buy, hell I even have a Xenomorph tattooed on my left calf, but that is how much Stout's artwork turns me off.

On a positive note the Prometheus OST sounds lovely.....a few crackles and pops but it was staticy and I haven't cleaned it yet.

I hope they'll use Jay Shaw's artwork (x-ray) for the Alien OST LP. They can simply scrrenprint that artwork on an acetate just like Spasmo X-Ray edition or Björk Vulnicura slipcover.

The Spasmo was on thick off gassing pvc, so no thank you.

Not necessarily PVC printing. With Spasmo I was referring to the X-ray-like printing with the choice of transparency and black printing.

Björk's Vulnicura LP packaging would suit more. It was a regular gatefold with a transparent acetate slipcover.

Did anyone pick up Naked Lunch yet? Also curious on my fellow STBCers takes on the new indie retailer exclusive color/cover initiative being launched with Dead Ringers. I quite like the retail cover and of course the black vinyl option is always appreciated.
