They were gone quick. I had one in my basket, but had to leave my desk at work for a few minutes. I came back refreshed the page and struck out. That's cool though. I just got the other variant. I would have just bought a black one if they had those. I'm really looking forward to this one!

Man the law unit and absurd discs are beautiful! Just picked them up before going to work, I was kinda surprised that the law unit didn't have a dl code. My first time going to mondo as well, waiting for the hottie at the counter to refund the $14 shipping, and I'll be a happy camper.

I've heard samples of Cat in the Brain and normally quite like Frizzi but this seems a bit sub-par compared to much of his other stuff. Thoughts either way?

@Dentist - It certainly seems to be one of Frizzi's more polarizing scores. There is quite a bit of lighter fare, but the film itself keeps you guessing whether it's comedy or horror (it doesn't really seem to be both?). Sequence 2 on the OST has a bit of the "Cannibal Holocaust theme" vibe going on, which I find endearing. Other sequences are recreations from other scores (L'Aldila/The Beyond and other more famous pieces), but fit with the idea that it is a film about Fulci filming a Fulci horrror film... with a Frizzi score... cat in the brain... arrgh.

I feel it's a real grower, especially as the main theme gets in your head. On the liner notes, Frizzi describes the main theme as "in a very realistic way what a cat can do in the brain" (make you fucking insane?). If I understand correctly, the main theme was sampled (from piano/synth?) using an E-Mu Emulator II. On the Frizzi 2 Fulci album notes, he mentions the live musicians struggling to play the main theme he created on the sampler. It's a bit bonkers. I think the late 80's/early 90's fucked everybody up a bit. That said, I have come to love it.

Also, the inner gatefold artwork by WBYK is a trip (and a perfect Fulci tribute):

The Dino DNA Jurassic Park reissue had me wondering today. Has Mondo changed its position on reissues/reprints? Jurassic Park Dino DNA to my knowledge is the first Mondo reissue of any product.

I wonder what other changes are on the horizon with Justin's departure as CEO (and I kind of wonder if COO Olson also left since her name was not included at the end of the letter announcing Justin's departure).

That's an interesting thought @texasvinyl. I always thought Justin WAS Mondo as had many of us here, so it will interesting how the company changes/evolves under different leadership. it does seem to me that Mondo is expanding its products availability, at least as far as non poster products go. (although perhaps that stuff will change in the future as well)

I think in general, as Drafthouse expands into a truly national company, their subsidiaries are going to expand as well. (supposedly we are getting another one in the NYC area, although i was really digging the fact that all the city people had to come up to me in the 'burbs to get their NY Alamo fix, my apartment is a five minute drive from the theater in Yonkers)

Basically i think this means that we all get more cool stuff to feed the pop culture habit. :)
