@ninjaqutie it's soo bad the way you've been treated, I hope they paid the return postage? As you say the way to resolve it is to stick to yer guns! I will try again to sort it but you get a bit deflated after waiting ages (especially with pre-orders) and then a defective album turns up I know all our beloved labels are super small operations so I don't blame anyone, but hopefully I bit more care could be exercised in future

Ha ha ha. I did post somewhere earlier in this thread that I had a seam split omen and was just keeping it rather than dealing with their unique brand of customer service. We've seen them having people send the sleeve back to get a new sleeve, send the sleeve back and get a whole new sealed package, just send out a new sleeve with no need to return the old one and now send something back and get something else entirely in return. It's a hipster wheel of fortune!

One thing I do like about mondo (there I go again) is I don't feel any need to be a completist

They did pay for postage... and then they sat on it for a while. :/ I think Horton was hatching it. To top it off, they didn't even send me sleeves back per my request. Supposedly, those are coming with my Gravity order (if that ever falls back to Earth and ships).

I got the variant for "Deadly Spawn" from my local store. They showed up there on RSD13, after the Mondo site had them listed as sold out. I was very surprised to see it so I snagged it. I was sure it would be black but was the pink variant.

After my first copy of The Omen wandered off to Brazil, it looks like my replacement has finally made it to the UK. Although this one decided to have a stopover in Grenada! I don't think I can risk ordering direct from Mondo again. I'm glad they sorted it out, but 2 packages going to completely the wrong countries is just ridiculous.

That is SUPER obnoxious! >:[ That would totally piss me off a consumer and if I owned a store, I'd be pissed off too! Is there a wall display or a rack it can be kept at where it is visible to the staff so the greedy bastard can be seen? Whoever takes it, offer to keep it at the counter for them. Or, you could let them take it and check on it as they walk around (my guess is if they open it, they are going to leave it elsewhere in the store). Then it is up to you how you want to handle it, but at least you know who the culprit is.

@BigMean - are you sure it's not the store opening them to see if they can get away with selling it for more? There's a shop near me that pulls that shit all the time - the owners and staff are all super-nice/cool people too - so it's a shame. EVERY LP they get in that may or may not be a variant gets opened and priced accordingly (or they keep them/list them online), which has turned me off so much I barely go in anymore. I get that they may be "worth" more, but these are titles that cost the same wholesale, they would still be making their normal profit margin if they just priced them straight up, giving their loyal customers a shot at scoring something cool.

Side note - I too ended up with a Deadly Spawn variant, picked up at Amoeba Hollywood last summer.

I used to donate to one because it was local and for a good cause. Not anymore. Not going to support the community I won't shop there any more.

So.. I've got my first 2 Mondo records delivered. Finally
Now I have to wait for TheVisitor and Gravity. (And Jurassic Park)

Paranorman was a variant, and Coraline the normal (black) one.
Only problem was.. Coraline was dammaged.
The postal package had a large dent, and so does the sleeve(s). Already contacted Mondo and they send me a replacement.
Though great as it is.. They send me a replacement for TheVisitor as I can see in the confirmation mail...

Contacted them again, Hoping I get my Coraline replacement instead

@antimax - after reading the original post again, it seems like you're probably right; but it still grinds my gears that my local store pulls that shit. And I'd be equally pissed if I was a shop owner finding out that my "customers" were doing it.
