I'm very excited about JP. Love John Williams and this score is great. Looking forward to having it spread over 2 slabs. Having this great score crammed onto one disc did nothing for it's dynamics. A must have for me. But do agree with GRAVITY, thinking I may skip that one.

Great, now variant random covers added to the mix...

Ooooh! It looks nice! Not sure which cover I like better! I think I like the bottom cover better. The top one reminds me of the omen. >:] I'd love to snag one of these puppies.

I skipped "Paranorman" and "Coraline", but I'm definitely getting "JP". Great movie and great score - the theme alone gives me goosebumps. Has the release date been announced?

Paranorman is only £24.12 on Amazon UK to be released on May 5th so a week on Monday. Again Amazon proves that they beat the all record labels webstores.

@Layne - My memory must be fading. I remember both of those lasting hours (and Drive may have lasted almost a day). Christ knows I've been wrong before though. Cheers.

@mateo - same here. DRIVE seemed to be the one that went in almost minutes. to where people were scrambling like mad to get it and ebay listings were going for several hundred dollars. stupid crazy...

I won't be buying Jurassic Park either. Williams is too cheesy for me and while it may work in the context of a film I'm never goinn to sit down and listen to it.

I took a look on their twitter account earlier - there were 28 minutes between the 'on sale' and 'sold out' tweets for Drive.

I was about to pull the trigger on Paranorman and Coraline, but Mondo's shipping prices are pretty awful. I live 3 hours from Mondo and it costs $14 to ship two LPs? Then with state sales tax factored in the total comes out to $82. Yikes.

I personally can't wait for the Jurrasic Park score

The shipping to San Diego was only $7 for the both

That's odd. I tried it again and it's still giving me $14 shipping for both. Now i'm paranoid because I feel like I'm missing something really obvious!

I'll email them.

@layne & @simonsj - Thanks for that. I must've just lucked out because I don't ever remember being overly attentive to a Mondo release outside of Ghibli, TFTC, and The Halloween Splatter.

@toosoonjunior - I ordered two copies each (one for me and one for my brother) and they charged me $14.

A little off the topic of the latest drop...

But I found that Halcyon in Brooklyn "claims" to have both Drive and Maniac in stock from Mondo and up for order...$40 for Maniac isn't the best I've ever seen, but $33 for Drive seems pretty damn good...

Drive OST

Maniac OST

Again, not convinced these are actually in stock, but it can't hurt to try...

Is there really much demand for something like Jurassic Park? One would think there are more interesting soundtracks out there. I mean, how far is this soundtrack craze gonna go - Titanic? The Bodyguard?

Just seems a bit weird.

When i was at the Blue Sunshine event a month or so ago, I stood in line next to several Mondo employees and that is all they could talk about, that JP is all of their favorite movie and they can't wait for it and all that shit, so I think it's an internal demand at Mondo more so than external? I actually am interested in hearing it on vinyl. I grew up loving the film, and it has an extremely memorable musical theme that I enjoy so I'm sure I'll grab it.

But here's the thing - just because it's your "favourite movie" doesn't necessarily mean it deserves a vinyl pressing. Not every soundtrack is good enough to stand on it's own.

Fair enough if people dig this. It'll be interesting to see how this sells, but I just don't get it. Also, I can't see the hipsters buying into this at all (unless maybe ironically? Is that the point? I dunno, I'm starting to lose track...)

@re-animated cat - I do agree with your points. I'm still wondering why they pressed up Gravity, as well as The Raid. I wouls rather see something like The Thing or Christine come out on vinyl instead of JP, but because it's coming out and I enjoy the theme I'll most likely grab it.

I won't be buying the Jurassic Park LP, but I can say that I think the soundtrack is one of John Williams's best. The themes are pretty and catchy, very epic. I'm just… never gonna listen to them outside of watching the movie. I know PLENTY of folks that are rabid JP fans though!

I just set up another order and you are correct in that it does say $14 for the both - Maybe when you go to final checkout it drops back to $7 and a combined shipping thing? - I also checked my invoice and it is only $7

I didn't buy these RSD releases, not really interested. I'll go for JP though. Any info on the two covers, are they just two different covers, one limited, variants? I might go for Gravity when JP drops. I just didn't want to preorder it that long in advance. Not sure why they just didn't wait for it to be ready to put up. Maybe just to put it out there while people were still talking about the film I guess.

Doesn't seem weird to me at all. I'm very excited about the JP release. If it is just for them, Mondo, that's OK. Spencer has said more then once his releases are things he wants to see on vinyl. I'm just happy I want to see many of the same things. And I trust his taste enough that if I don't know it I will probably purchase it because he thinks it's worth putting out. If Mondo wants to put out Titanic that's OK. Not sure I would get it but it sold like crazy on CD so I am sure there is an audience for it. (Now, if they want to put out Horner's "Legends of the Fall"; I'm all over it! :)) This resurgence of scores on vinyl is wonderful and there are plenty of terrific scores that deserve to be released on vinyl. I love that Mondo gives us a nice mix, from an obscure "Deadly Spawn" or "Blue Sunshine" to mainstreams like "Poltergiest" and Jurassic Park".
