That Japanese Halloween looks immaculate, 334578! How's the wax? I saw an OG Star Wars and Jedi this weekend on my dig, but I don't know what "reasonable" is for those and I was without my phone. In the end, I decided that if there had been a similarly graded Empire I would've bought the "set," but since there wasn't, I laid off.

The Halloween looks nice and clean, but plays with some background noise. Probably a VG+. It's an interesting listen though. As much dialog as there is music. But as a big fan of the film, I kind of dig it that way. And the insert has the text from the dialog in both English and Japanese.
Re Star Wars, I still need Jedi as well.

Currently spinning this.
'Ravissante Baby' is a rare afro-funk / highlife / soul / jazz-funk LP featuring the best of the French and Cameroonian musicial diaspora, and the voice of a seven year old child (Francis 'The Great' Mbarga), recorded in Paris circan 1977. Original copies on the French C-C label with set you back a few hundred quid, so thank the Lord that Hot Casa decided on this reissue.

“Ravissante Baby (Negro Phasing)” is a long hypnotic funky soukous / highlife track with a tremendous lead guitar and a long, meandering spoken-word vocal from the aforementioned child singer. However, it's B-side track “Look Up In The Sky (Negro Nature)” that really caught our attention. A grooving disco-funk rhythm featuring cosmic synth work by Michel Morose, bubbling bass by the great Victor Edimo, the famous Toto Guillaume on guitar, and a brilliant poetic vocal in French and English by Francis The Great. The combination of hypnotic afro rhythms and slightlydelic musings from Francis make for a winning combination

Originally produced by Francis's father, a great impresario of African artists in Paris during the 70s, and coordinated by his mother, this album is totally unique.

Hot Casa Records has reissued this holy grail after years of research! It comes out in a deluxe LP including interview, and has been officially licensed from Francis Mbarga himself, in Yaounde (Cameroon).

Spinning this too, fantastic stuff. A holy-grail African record. Here's the blurb: Featuring the enormous ‘Nomalizo’, it’s a record that aficionados around the world have been waiting many years for. If you don’t know this record. The reissue has been lovingly mastered for vinyl by Simon Francis (Claremont 56 mastering engineer), pressed on audiophile 180gram vinyl for the first time and features the original artwork.

Francis the Great is a very cool record, Vape. I think plenty of people here would dig it. I've never heard of Letta Mbulu; I'll check her out.

Hi Mateo, really enjoying Francis The Great. I love the innocence and simplicity of the vocals. It's really charming and darn funky. Do a search for Letta when you get a chance, in particular the track 'Nomalizo', it's got a lovely feel good vibe to it, very cool, and her vocals are smooth as silk. Having a job posting links on here but another recommendation that get's a special edition re-release tomorrow is Bert Jansch's 'Avocet'. Beautiful traditional folk guitar work and there's a lot of love gone into the whole package. I'm not great at describing music in any great depth, I'm better at describing how it makes me feel but You can find and listen to the full album on YouTube and it's well worth a listen. It's calming, beautifully played and I can't recommend it enough.

Cheers, Vape! Sounds swell. I'm a Pentangle fan since the days of yore so I don't need much convincing to check out a Jansch (or John Renbourn) reissue.

I know this isn't strictly speaking a soundtrack, but I haven't posted any new purchases lately and this arrived during the week, so...

@Spun - Thanks! This one was a long time coming, and I had let more than a few copies pass by.

@Dollar - Yes, my blue copy is stamped with a number on the side A label. I only thought the black border copies were stamped, but the Discogs listing is confusing regarding this.

Interesting find today, archive RCA red seal copy of Sweeney Todd original cast recording signed by Dame Angela Lansbury and Lou Cariou. "The worst pies in London"!

Normally I pass right on by Broadway stuff but had to snag this one. Five bucks!

It's been quite a while since I had a bit of a spree. I've been meaning to pick up most of these for a while.
