Supposedly not. Not that it should stop you from scooping right up and enjoying it. And keep in mind that some folks even take issue with the official release because of debate around how much of the music is re-recorded, reinterpreted, inclusion of dialogue, etc. I'm not an expert on the provenance of Vangelis' original tapes, but I probably should take the time to become; it is the best score I've ever heard and I listen to one iteration of it or another a couplefew times a week.

True for me as well, and many others? I'm not sure why exactly, but I find the music to be utterly transporting, even the versions with the dialogue.

Others may differ, but I can unequivocally say that these 2015 Audio Fidelity pressings (here: https://www.discogs.com/Vangelis-Blade- ... se/4369372 and here: https://www.discogs.com/Vangelis-Blade- ... se/4611015) are among the best pressed records I have ever heard and certainly that I own. They're phenomenal. A bit pricey now, unfortunately, but I wonder if there isn't a repress in the offing. The demand must be high.

I would agree with that, those pressings are fantastic.

Either way it's well over $100 and too rich for my wallet.
Yes, that's different. The comparison might have been a bit misleading but to me Mobile Fidelity are abolutely top notch when it comes to sound (at least their newer stuff). I just bought their Jack Johnson (Miles Davis) release which probably led me to mention them together with Audio Fidelity .

In any case - Blade Runner should get a repress for everybody to enjoy (I bought it not even 2 years ago in my local record shop and thought €35 was quite much...).

Blade Runner is my favorite everything of all times.

The red audio fidelity pressing is great.

Seemed like I just bought that black copy on amazon last year (guess it was 2015) but now that seems to have dried up and they are fetching 2x retail on discogs. I listen to my red copy between the two.

Hey, MW, s the black version you bought in 2015 this one: https://www.discogs.com/Vangelis-Blade- ... se/7097828? I've never heard of a black Audio Fidelity pressing, but have often wondered how these UK/EU Warner/East West pressings of a year or two later compared.

The Audio Fidelity red vinyl pressing was one of my favorite purchases in recent years. It sounds so incredible. I use it to test out my stereo rig when setting up a room. My *only* gripe about Audio Fidelity is that I have received a couple LP's with slight warping (Blade Runner & Tron), but I was able to get a replacement for BR that is nice and flat.

yeah sorry for the mix up, there are two red pressings of the audio fidelity one without a numbered stamp.

there is a red pressing of the east/west and then the black east/west version is what I have.
I do not notice any difference in those two pressings though.

Holy smokes, Vi-Res, great timing on this post! Someone just brought this up at work the other evening and, while it rang a distant bell, I couldn't say I recalled it in earnest. What a wild piece of recording equipment.

It is absolutely fascinating. I need to bust my ass and pay an unconscionable sum to obtain one.
And when I get it,I will use it only once, decide that it sounds like shit and leave it in the cupboard forever.
